Gravel Calculator
Calculate the volume, weight and cost of gravel for any area.
Work out how much gravel you need for a path, base layer or landscaping project — in cubic yards, tons and cost. Gravel is usually sold by the ton or cubic yard.
The math behind it
Volume in cubic feet = length × width × depth (depth converted from inches to feet).
Weight = volume × density. Loose gravel is roughly 95–115 lb/ft³ (~1.4 tons per cubic yard).
Tons = pounds ÷ 2,000.
Worked example
20 ft × 10 ft at 4 in deep → 66.7 ft³ = 2.47 yd³; at 105 lb/ft³ ≈ 3.5 tons.
FAQ
