⚠️ If your cat has eaten chocolate, contact your veterinarian or a pet poison helpline NOW — do not rely on this estimate. This only screens the theobromine dose for context.

The math behind it

Chocolate is toxic because of theobromine. dose (mg/kg) = ounces eaten × theobromine per ounce ÷ body weight (kg). Signs can start around 20 mg/kg; over 60 mg/kg is dangerous.

Worked example

A 15 kg dog eating 2 oz milk chocolate → ~8.5 mg/kg (low, but still monitor).
